Game of Thrones Reunions We Can’t Wait for: Sansa and The Hound

It’s not certain whether some characters will meet again in the final season of Game of Thrones. For example, we don’t know whether Sandor Clegane, better known as The Hound, is headed to Winterfell with most of the other characters. But if he is, his meeting with Sansa Stark should be an interesting one.

Little Bird

All of The Hound’s interactions with Sansa take place during the first two seasons. During that time Sansa is very much afraid of him. It’s not surprising considering how unpleasant he is. He even says some things to her that are deliberately trying to scare her. Despite all of his bravado, he shows compassion for Sansa, whom he calls Little Bird, on more than one occasion.

When Joffrey drags Sansa up to the gates to see her father’s head on a spike, Joffrey has Ser Meryn Trant hit her for talking back to him. As they’re leaving, The Hound stops Sansa and wipes the blood off her lip. Later, when a mob attacks the royal party on their way back from seeing Myrcella off to Dorne, Sansa is dragged into an alley by three men who mean to rape her and possibly kill her as well. The Hound is the one who comes for her and brings her back to the castle. Finally, when the Battle of Blackwater Bay is raging, Sansa finds him in her chamber. He offers to take her to Winterfell, but she decides to stay in King’s Landing.

Change of Character

A lot has happened to both Sansa and The Hound since the end of Season Two. The Hound nearly dies and Sansa withstands even more horror. They both come out very different on the other side. While still hiding behind his mask of cruelty, The Hound finds himself helping to unite everyone to fight the Night King. Sansa takes charge of her life, helping to win Winterfell back from the Boltons, and serving as an advisor of sorts to Jon after he’s named king. When he leaves Winterfell to go to Dragonstone, Sansa is left in charge, and she does a very good job.

The Reunion

The reunion, if it happens, will be interesting because Sansa has changed more than anyone else on the show. She’s gone from a simpering child to fierce woman. That will be a shock to The Hound, since he’s only ever seen her as a weak little girl. Just like with Arya, The Hound will find a new respect for Sansa. It will also be interesting to see if Sansa still shows a bit of fear toward him.
