As my days fill up with activities and I seem to have less and less time to read recreationally (reading is a big part of my day job), There are certain books that stand out in my long, long list of books I’ve read during my life. They are books that opened my mind to new worlds of stories, provided comfort during difficult times, or are just plain fun and entertaining to read. The way the genre has been flexed, some really great story telling and creativity has been produced. And, as long as the story and characters are so intriguing, the audience will not get bored.

Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys were typical reading for me as a kid. One day my dad said I needed to read a real book and he gave me Twins by Bari Wood and Jack Geasland.

This is the best book I’ve read all summer. Weaver is a great writer and can reveal twists and build suspense in a way that is fresh, but recognizable. Reviewing the book based on female representations, though, points to where he needs a little work.
