Regina McMenomy, Ph.D.

Regina is the founder and lead ambassador of The Geek Embassy. Studying and writing about geeks and geek culture is Regina’s favorite thing to do when she’s not reading student papers, dancing an excessive amount of calories away, or chasing after her daughter. Inclined towards social and mobile gaming, Regina also loves a good round of 7 Wonders, Qwirkle, Small World, or Lords of Waterdeep. Someday, she hopes to actually take part in a D&D campaign so she can officially “roll” a character and role play her as a devious, highly intelligent mischief maker, which would be nothing like she is in real life.

Isabela Oliveriaizzy-thumb

Isabela considers herself a renaissance geek, in the sense that she knows a little about a whole lot of things. To her, a good story is just as delightful as a delectable dessert. She is always looking for the next great TV show to marathon and for the next exciting thing to learn about.

wonderwomanjulsJulie Lynn

Julie is a fun time entertainment enthusiast best known for her kaleidoscope of party music and infectious room-filling laugh.  She is always looking for an excuse to bring friends together with games and grub, margaritas and music.  Her musical tastes have no bounds, and culinary curiosity produces both triumphant and pathetic results.  Above all, Julie loves to game.  At home, she spends far too much time on Steam playing Warframe.  With friends, she can’t get enough of Cranium, Rock Band, and 7 Wonders.  Julie strives to be the hostess with the most-ess, so get ready to party like it’s 2099.

ambassadorDante Buccieri, MLS

Dante is the resident comic book savant of The Geek Embassy.  He’s been reading comics for as long as he can remember, and now that he’s a librarian he gets to advocate for comics in libraries and get paid for it.  He’s also a tabletop gaming fan, especially those that involve cards, with favorites including Sentinels of the Multiverse, Magic: The Gathering, Bang!, Smash Up, and 7 Wonders.  He loves stories and the phenomenon of storytelling, no matter if it comes in paper, electronic, or audio format.  In Dante’s spare time, you can catch him refereeing for the 2-time world champion Rose City Rollers in Portland, OR and watching New York Rangers hockey.  Apart from comic book adaptations, Dante has seen approximately 7 movies in his whole life.

Katherine Olson, Ph.D.

Katherine holds a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Union Institute & University. She is currently interested in Wonder Woman, feminism, and culture. For The Geek Embassy, she will be writing about comics, looking especially at the Amazon princess and other powerful female characters.

Max Monast

Max, also known as The Crab Goddess to friends and online associates, is a young upstart crustacean that fell into a vat of caffeine as a crabling, and now spends his days looking to and fro for the next shiny pebble to add to his collection. He enjoys the horror genre as a concept, though isn’t a fan of jumpscares, loves tabletop and video games even though he’s usually pretty bad, and will gladly have a conversation with anyone about their favorite almost anything. In his free time he can either be found watching British standup routines, keeping up with his favorite webcomic series, or playing Magic: the Gathering, listening to electro swing or heavy metal as the mood strikes him. At the end, Max/Crab is a collector, looking for new things to discover, archive, and display in text or memory anything that can be added to the collection.
